CCC(18) - MARY'S THEME - USE A CARDINAL (OR ANY CHRISTMAS) BIRD

Hello blog friends and followers - this is slightly late today because I didn't have time to write the 'splurge' yesterday.   Oh and the maestro only took the pic this bright sunny morning (yes ... it is sunny here).    First of all I must say thank you so much for the comments on my little Christmas box, I'm so glad you liked it.  Now for this fortnight's challenge at the CCC - Mary asked us to use a Cardinal bird on our cards although she did say we could use any Christmas bird if we didn't have the right image.   I managed to find this lovely picture of a Cardinal bird on the internet and thought it would be perfect for my card.

I coloured him in with my Flexmarkers and then cut him out using a Marianne Craftables die, I cut around the overhang of the spruce and popped the die underneath so that it wouldn't chop into it.   I have even been practising blobs - an homage to my blog bud Sue J (Ollie's Mam) who is the Queen of Blobs - and blobbed a few around my image.

Thank you for this lovely challenge Mary, I'm quite jealous because I guess you see these gorgeous birds all the time where you are in South Carolina.

Ingredients

7" x 7" White Card Blank - Anna Marie Designs
Digi - Colouring Pages found on the internet
Green Glitter paper - A5 Glitter Pad (very old stash - had to do a join on the lower edge)
'Softly Falling' die - Die'Sire Creatables
Corner Flourish die - Spellbinders Die D'Lites
Christmas Sentiment - LOTV
Pinflair Pearl Wand (for the blobs!!)
Stardust Stickles

That's it for now then - this Christmas card will be winging it's way to my friend across the pond later on this year.   Thank you for stopping by and checking out my blog, I shall be checking out the cards made by the other girls later on.  It's really nice to see what everyone makes and to know that we are steadily building up our stash of Christmas cards.

Big hugs to you all and please take care of yourselves.

  9. Hi Sue me wonderful blogging mate.
Another of your very super cards today.
Love your superb design and the sparkle is fab.
Your bird is coloured just perfectly, and yes you are right, Mary is so lucky to see these wonderful birds in her neck of the woods.
I see the maestro has excelled with his camera work again.
I was on Mary'sblog the other day, and she was showing her craft room in the basement.
Well I couldn't believe all the crafty stash she had especially punches, and the little sweetie said if I lived closer I could go around there and share, and that's not all she said she had her stamps in the next room too.
My green eyed monster is trying to rear his ugly little head again. lol.
Love and hugs to all in the P household.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

  13. Oh dear, I'm not trying to create green mayhem in the blog world! But yes we do get to enjoy these beautiful birds here in SC. Not sure if they lived in Florida when we were there. We worked and who had time to watch birds?! Your interpretation of this wonderful creature is just wonderful, and terrific that you found the image on the internet! I search for clipart at Christmas time to use on mailing address labels, so will have to try to find this pretty boy. Love the dies & pretties you've dressed him with & Sue's blobs are just wonderful. I think you have the knack. That must take such patience and a steady hand! The same invite goes to you just like the one to Jenny. I would dearly love to have ya'll visit me and we could play to our heart's content. You have to remember, I came to this craft late, and had to spend a lot of time catching up on supplies. I fear I may be starting to develop hoarders-syndrome. I see a new product or technique and feel the urge to try it! I need to just use the stuff I have, (plus organize it so I can find it). Thank you for interpreting my theme in such a beautiful way. Hugs & TFS

Richards's whiskers are vibrating ... I hope it's not that handsome bird that's causing it! Have a lovely week, friend. A cuddle for Miss B.
