Good morning fellow bloggers and friends out there - I do hope you are having a good weekend, the sun has been shining here (although we had torrential rain on Friday night plus a thunderstorm)!
I will be honest and tell you that I had forgotten totally about this fortnight's challenge for the CCC - I know I usually forget until a few days before but I remembered Friday night and when I found out what the theme was I will admit to being chuffed to bits. I have to make a box for a Christmas present and now I've sorted it .... sooner rather than later - wahey!!! Must thank the bride-to-be Lizzie for this wonderful challenge - I hope you have a gorgeous day and the sun shines on you both next week!
This little box is 4" square and 2" deep. The thin card is double sided but is a plain green on the holly card and plain red on the dotty card, didn't think it was worth asking the maestro for another pic but I have since realised that it isn't clear how much of this is the lid - sooooo suffice it to say that all of the red dotty card is the lid and I edged it with a Spellbinders Banner Basics die-cut. I have also used my favourite Poinsettia die - I absolutely lurve this one and would use it on all Christmas cards if I could.
Ingredients
Thin Card is from my stash and is years old!
Poinsettia dies - Britannia Dies from Joanna Sheen
Small Ivy die - Britannia Dies from Joanna Sheen
Banner Basics 2 die - Spellbinders Dies
Merry Christmas sentiment - Cheery Lynn Dies
Gold Pearl Wand - Pinflair
Tartan Ribbon - Hobbycraft Embellishment Kit
I am happy with my little project and it is the perfect size for the gift I have in mind.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and please leave a comment (if you have the time) 'cos you know I love reading them.
By the way, I know a few of you were wondering what my birthday present was, you know the one with the batteries!! Well, it was nothing to do with bunny rabbits but I will put you out of your misery/curiosity and tell you that it is, in fact, a MicroPedi - for me feet!!! And before you all think "what on earth was the maestro thinking of" - I asked him for it! Me poor old tootsies were in such a state that I could have climbed Mt Everest barefoot, without any crampons and now ... I could do Dancing on Ice without skates! Total bliss!! I dare say a couple of my blogster maties out there are now trying to imagine me climbing or skating .... as if!!!
Well must be orf now - got a spot of the old ironing to do - I am trying not to let it get too high (the pile that is not the cat Mrs Duck). Blossom is looking pretty slim by the way, she will never be sylph-like (unlike her mum lol!!) but her tum is better!
Catch up with you again shortly, take care of yourselves and enjoy the warm weather while we have it.
Big hugs to you all
Sue

ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful gift box and I have to agree that poinsettia die is amazing. It makes the most perfect finishing touch to a fabulous box and I'm sure the recipients will treasure it.
ReplyDeleteI think our sunny weather has left us for a while here, we have had a torrential downpour this lunch time and looks like there is more to come. :( Take care.

Your Christmas box is gorgeous! So festive. Love your colour scheme and design. That poinsettia looks fabulous and the die you used on the edge of the lid is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love to get pidicures too. I go once a month and am so pleased with the lady i go to that we plan our time home from the lake to coincide with my pedis! Now hopefully the Maestro will use that new micro pedi machine on your feet and let you relax. My girlfriends husband does her pedies like that!
Good afternoon "happy feet" glad you got what you wanted and it had done what it said on the box!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE your stunning box. Great colours, perfect for a gift at Christmas, beautiful embellishments.
Hugs

This is a fabulous box Sue! Love the banner dies around the lid too. Gorgeous poinsettis. So Christmas-sy! Missed you today!! Hugs Christine xx
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Sue - absolutely stunning! Using the bunting around the sides is inspired and I love all the beautiful die cuts you have made too - ooo severe die envy going on lol!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a lovely birthday huni and these ladies are naughty with reference to bunnies and batteries really! As if your DH would buy you a Duracell bunny playing his drums!
I know what you mean about your feet though - I got myself a ped egg a year or so ago and the difference is amazing! My feet have the tendency to crack and split open which is damn painful but the ped egg and a rich moisturiser mean my heals are so much better now!

Stunning box Mrs P!!! just been to comment on Christine's blog but for some reason it's not letting me..but I did read you and me have a reputation as being noisy!! noooooooooo clue how that has happened do you??????????? and yes my poinsettia die is your favourite one :) soon be time for the 'gang' to meet up again oooohhhhhhhh cant wait LOL lots of huggles from us here and gentle ones from the poor afflicted Ollie..he's almost back to normal bless him he's not been good at all..take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sue xxxxxxxxx

Sue, what a beautifully decorated box. Love the trimmings and that wonderful paper combo. I especially liked the way you've used the border die on the top edge. How clever of you, as it was a lovely finished off edge. If you got the micro-pedi gadget, then I'll bet you can imagine my bliss at having my 1st ever pedicure. I get really dry skin around the edges of the feet, and it's wonderful to have somebody else work on smoothing that down! I've been using Vaseline on the skin at night, and donning a pair of sox so the Vaseline doesn't come off on the sheets. It does soften up the dry skin, but I have to remember to do it regularly. Enjoy your new gift!!! TFS such a beautiful project too. I was MIA this time. Hugs
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Design just perfect for our challenge over at Completely Christmas....Thank you for sharing with us,

ReplyDeleteThoroughly love the box you created. PURRRRRty. I am constantly creating boxes as there never seems to be one of the size I need. Maybe I will share one some day. - Jim
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, thanks for your lovely comments. The die I used is Cheery Lynn from the Reflections Boutique Mega Dies collection. That die is from the set DL204 called Mini Pearl Square Mega Doily - there are 7 in the set. A bit fiddly as you get half the die if you know what I mean. You have to cut it out then turn the die over and cut the other half out, you soon get used to them though. I also just found out yesterday that if have the round set too, found it under a pile of stuff on my work desk - I really need to have a good clean up lol!!! Susan xx
ReplyDeleteHi Sue
ReplyDeleteFabulous box. Someone is going to love that at Christmas.Thank goodness you clarified about the foot pedi thing, although the neighbours probably wonder about the regular buzzing noise hahaha!
Glad Blossom is doing well, bless her.
Best wishes.

Hi, Sue! You have outdone yourself! And after waiting til the last minute, too! REALLY pretty details, and so much nicer than a regular bow. Perfect for mailing! Thank you for the good idea of using double sided paper, too! That ivy is lovely, and your poinsettias are GORGEOUS! Wonderful project, and thanks for sharing how you put it together, and the dimensions. You asked how I am - doing ok - I'm still up and around, and hope to gain more strength in the coming weeks. Thank you for caring. love, de

You've got those Happy Feet Sue, great Birthday gift and so useful, you'r feet will always feel wonderful now.
ReplyDeleteStunning box, lovely the colours and embellishments. Whoever gets this will love it, hugs Kate x
I have one of those micropedi's, too, Soupie!! I'm afraid I've had very bad luck with mine, however. My sister, who first got one and impressed me with it, assures me that it will work just fine if I take it out of the box and apply it to my feet. Really, that seems such a lot of bother. After all the money I paid for it, I think it should crawl out of the box on it's own and apply itself to my heels while I read a book with a gin in the chaise. Perhaps I can hire a boy for that. And now there goes my mind wandering naughtily.
ReplyDeleteYour brilliant Christmas box snaps me right back to my oohing and ahhing over your creativity! Those poinsettias look positively REAL and I love how you did the edge around the lid with the festive banners!! I think you have every right to be chuffed to bits about this!! Hugs, Darnell
Hi Sue me wonderful blogging mate,
ReplyDeletewhat a superb designed box.
Love all your ingredients for this.
Just perfect for Christmas.
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I'm so jea of your new battery item as I have to do it the hard way, with a file. lol.
Been wanting one of those, but was afraid they wouldn't work as well as they say, might just have to go on my C list.
A credits to the photographer on his wonderful photo of you super box.
Love and hugs to all in the P household.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.
