Well hello my little blog mateys out there - boy do I have a story to tell you - and was I embarrassed right to the roots of me Barnet! Anyway some of you know that I have been needing new glasses for a little while now, but the optician is another no no for me (just like the dentist and the hairdresser). My lubbly hubbly has to have his eyes tested every year so, this time, he took the bull by the doodahs and decided to make an appointment for me as well.
I was first in and a very nice lady - a few years younger than moi - was designated (poor soul) to do the usual puff of air in the eyeball jobby and also to take pictures of my eyes (provided I would stop blinking long enough she said - lol). First of all though she asked me to rest my chin on the bottom bar (bless her she did say chin and not chins - I love this woman!!) then she told me to lean my forehead against the top bar. Oh poop! this became a problem, I just couldn't get close enough 'cos of my bloomin' double D's!!! I was giggling, she was choking and then it came to me, I would just have to hoist 'em up onto the desk! Well it worked a treat and we both managed to calm down and do the necessary to get the job done! Thank goodness I thought, as they sent me upstairs to the 'head' optician to have me eye test 'proper'.
Orf I toddled but guess who had forgotten that I had to use the same sort of apparatus and also the OPTICIAN WAS A BLOKE!!!!! Well I was dreading the moment when he came to the bit about rest your chins etc etc, however he finally said it and I tried and tried but just couldn't get there. He was almost on the verge of saying "Don't worry ..... " when I thought 'bu..er this' and I grabbed hold of the two metal uprights holding the bars together and pulled meself towards the 'machine'. I had to hold me breath of course and me bosoms looked like a couple of Pitta Breads somewhere on me knees, but at least I got it sorted. I certainly wasn't going to hoist in front of him!!! Oh and fortunately this test was in a small office, whereas the one downstairs where I hoisted etc ... was in a cubicle with folks sitting just outside watching.
I have to go back sometime next week to get my specs and I am soooooo not looking forward to it. Let's hope me bruises have faded on me bosoms.
Sorry about the waffling (Jenny!) but I just had to tell you all about it - I was laughing but I was also scarlet with embarrassment. I think I limbo'd under the door on the way out!
Well, here is my next card, I made this one for Lady Anne's Stamp Challenge just before I decided to leave the DT.
Ingredients
7" x 7" card blank
Papers - Arctic Frog and Anna Griffin
Digi - Lili with Berries by Inky Impressions
Spellbinders - 5 x 7 Matting Basics A
Spellbinders - Timeless Rectangle
Spellbinders - Stately Circles
Cheery Lynn - Lace Corner Deco B
Promarkers/Copics
WOC Cherry Blossom flowers/foliage
Do let me know what you think about this one, I must admit I lurve cherries and I also love this red colour. If you are still reading this (and not asleep), please let me thank you for sharing my embarrassment at the opticians. Just think of me when I have to go back to collect them. My bosoms should come out unscathed this time though! lol.
Oh, oh, oh - best of all, afterwards the hubster said "Why didn't you make the chair higher, you would have been alright then!" Now why didn't I think of that eh?
Thank you for stopping by my blog and for all the lovely comments on my previous posts. You really are kind and talented!! I am constantly amazed when I toddle around blogland. There are so many creations that are real corkers and they just stop you in your tracks.
So that's all from me for now (who said thank goodness??)
Big hugs to you all
SUE

Oh Sue, I almost cried laughing! What a performance indeed. Err, and once I calmed down I did manage to look at your card - lovely!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Di xx
Well if you were able to limbo under the door on your way out your double D's must have been squashed down to double A's!!!! I must confess that I really don't like the "up close and personal" when the optician is actually examining the eye. It's a real infringement on your personal space isn't it? Last time my optician was a lady so that was better, but even so I didn't like it.
ReplyDeleteCan you hear me singing now? I'm standing on a stool and singing as loud as I can - surely it's reaching to Nottingham!! John now knows that I really am nuts! He must be a bit slow if it has taken him 40 years! Lol!
This is a very sweet card - pun intended this time! The red check is a perfect accompaniment to the cherries.
Have a good day! Love and hugs from Christine xx

Hi Sue,
ReplyDeleteme lovely and wonderful blogging mate. From one double D to another I know this situation.lol.
You have really lifted my spirits this evening as I haven't had good news from my eye specialist today. Me needs an operation on my left eye, and am waiting for an appointment to come now to discuss how successful it could be or not as the case may be. Well you could have
knocked me down with a feather as no mention of this has been said in the 2 years I have been going for my eye trouble. So you see I do know the situation especially as I'm a blooming Double D too.
Now to that super card, it's really lovely isn't she a cutie. I too love cherries. I still can't believe hw very much alike we both are in our tastes. Love the dies used in this super card. Fabulous designing as usual. Great photography again Graham.
