Well, today I am making a card using up some of my bits and pieces of paper - you know the ones - you can't throw them away ('cos they might come in useful) but they aren't really big enough to do anything major with. Anyway, as normal, I was distracted - this time it was a huuuuuge Woodpigeon sitting in the bird bath doing callisthenics!! First it was one wing then it was the other! A few sit ups - then a sit down!! The trouble was, the more he sat in there the more he looked as if he was soaking up the water! Hubby announced he would be too waterlogged to take off and went to get his camera. Needless to say he stopped exercising and posed for his pic!
So you now know why I was distracted.
However, I am going to post another card that I made for docrafts Creativity 'Craft for Life' Cancer Research Campaign. This was a while ago but I liked this little A6 card, I felt it was a 'happy' design. When I worked in the NHS I spent some time working in a Hospice for terminally ill patients. It was a brilliant place, there was always laughter and I made lots of friends. The Day Care Centre was amazing - everyone was so positive and boy did we giggle! We'd celebrate all sorts of things and I have been known to wear a red nose and antlers, Santa Hat, bunny's ears etc etc (even though my boss wasn't too keen - oops!). It was so sad when I eventually lost some of my friends so the above campaign is dear to my heart.
This card had to be placed in a cello bag so it is very simple and I didn't use any flowers.
Ingredients :
A6 card
A6 card
Paper from Papermania
Ribbon and buttons from Papermania
Spellbinders Labels 5
La Blanche stamp
Distress Ink (can't remember colour)
Promarkers

Hi Sue, what a lovely card! So pretty and the die is a perfect shape as a background to the image.
ReplyDeleteGrinned here at the pigeon antics - we have a regular one (we call him Walter for obvious reasons) who does just the same. One wing in the air at a time whilst having a jolly good scrub :) My step-mum is right - she says that birds are the most delightful time wasters when you start watching their antics!

ReplyDeleteYou know Sue, you are as bad as me! I was at my desk the other day and looked up to find a roe deer just standing looking towards the window as if it could see me and was wondering what I was doing. Mind you, I wasn't too happy when they ate all my ornamental cabbage!!! This is a lovely card and a very worthy cause. Christine x

Hi Sue, what a gorgeous little card and the worthwhile cause is so close to many of us. The colours are bright and cheerful and the little image so cute, wish I had your skill for colouring in. A really lovely card.
ReplyDeleteThe birds are such time wasters but bring so much pleasure. We had nine goldfinches in the garden yesterday, have a robin that visits everyday now, blue tits, great tits, greenfinches and think we are feeding all the sparrows for the whole village. Five pigeons come and go as well as several doves. They are eating us out of house and home but we love to see them. For a couple of years we had a pigeon that would come into our dining room after the pot we have the peanuts in and would happily help himself and then go but sadly we haven't seen him for a while but we have one now who sits on the trellis lets me go right past him put out the nuts and as soon as I turn round goes down to feed, love it.
Must stop waffling on now but hope you have a lovely Tuesday, love Christine H xx
Hi Christine - thank you for your comments. I do love mentioning things in my blog because it always brings out other stories (like yours). Graham and I love feeding our birds - he says it costs him a fortune but I know he doesn't mind!!!). We also have a variety in the garden but I have yet to see any of the finches, we've tried everything except teasles, so I think we might have to throw a few seeds down and let them grow!! One year we even had a herd (yes it wasn't a flock - definitely more like a herd!!) of redwings. They sat in our tree for ages then ALL of them flew off together and stripped my neighbours Pyracantha - well it was growing up the wall and the berries must have looked sooooo tempting. It's awful when you get used to something (like your pigeon) popping in and one day you realise they aren't there anymore. We have squirrels in the garden and one of them used to pop in the back door for some nuts, even taking them out of your fingers. He even taught his 'children' - then, like you, we didn't see him again. Ooops now who's waffling.
DeleteHugs to you Sue Pxxx (am just off to post my next card)
Hi Sue - great picture of the pigeon, and what a super card. Congratulations on winning the comment prize over at Fashionista.
