70th BIRTHDAY CARD FOR CATHERINE'S DAD

Good morning fellow blogsters and followers and an especially warm welcome to my new follower - Jackie, I do hope you enjoy my wafflings and warped sense of humour!!!

Thanks to all of you who left comments on my last card, the one with the teddy dragging his diddy Christmas tree behind him.  This was my choice of theme for the CCC, a little club some of us are in, where we make our Christmas cards every two weeks and (very hopefully) we don't have so much panic at the end of the year.   My theme wasn't everyone's cup of tea but I ended up really liking my card and it's another one ready for Christmas.  Yaaaaay!!

Well 'nuff waffling about that, Catherine, my next door neighbour, asked me if I could make a card for her dad's 70th birthday.   She mentioned that he really likes line-dancing but I didn't have any l-d digis so asked my teamies on the OSAAT DT if they knew of any - there were a couple of sites who did this sort of image and I bought these two line-dancers from Karen's Doodles.   After I had coloured them I had a mojo meltdown and orf she went on her bloomin' hols .......... AGAIN!   I eventually got really fed up with myself and found some papers from Tim Holtz in my cupboard - perfect for what I wanted.  I also found a digi on t'internet from Colouring Pages for Kids (!) showing a pair of fancy boots and a cowboy hat - yeeehaaa!   After all that, this is what I came up with and I am pleased to say that Catherine and her family loved it, as did her dad!  Result!

This is only just a slightly sideways view but it does show the little 'boot' charm that I put on there.    It's not just the ladeees who can have charms, gentlechaps can have them too!
Just a quick shot of the box I made to go with the card.

Ingredients

Line Dancer Guy and Gal - Karen's Doodles
Boots with hat digi - Colouring Pages for Kids
8" x 8" Kraft Card blank - Papermania at Docrafts

Red and Beige card - Core'dinations
A2 Fancy Postage Edge die - Spellbinders Dies
Virtuoso Music die - Memory Box Dies
Alphabet die - Tattered Lace Dies
Stitched Circle Stax - Lil'Inkers Dies
Stitched Star Stax - Lil'Inkers Dies
No 3 Star - Nellie Snellen Dies

I do hope you like this one and are able to leave a comment, only if you have time of course, thank you for visiting me anyway!  I shall be off now 'cos we have had a deluge of rain and a lumping great thunderstorm and my head is really banging away like a good 'un!   Thunderstorms often do this to me so I will take to me bed very shortly and hope I will feel better in the morning - I have scheduled this post so me fingers are crossed!

Big hugs to you all and please take care of yourselves.

CCC(15) - MY OWN THEME!! - CHRISTMAS TEDDY BEAR

Good morning everybody - thank you all for the comments made on my last few cards - forgot to mention it yesterday (my bad! - sorry I'm too old for this but what the heck does it mean by the way, I keep hearing it and I think I have used it in context but forgive me if not - ROFL).  I know I get worse but I'm allowed, I had a lovely birthday yesterday, did a bit of crafting, had some Chinese food and a glass of vino - happy days!  My birthday present came with batteries and is something I have wanted for ages so I am chuffed to bits - wahey!!!  I also had some lovely cards - two of them in shades of my favourite colour - lilac, so thank you girls

Well, this fortnight the CCC theme is 'Christmas Bears' and I haven't a clue why I chose this!  I do love bears though and it gave me a chance to use a stamp set from Personal Impressions (which I bought years ago!).  I didn't want to make a card for a child but I felt that if I used 'grown' up papers I could send it to a family with children!  There's no Wink of Stella on here either, just a smidge of Stardust Stickles on his pompom.

My dies came to the fore as usual, I do love my dies and will now refuse to say how many I have 'cos Ollie's Mam teases me ... just a tad!

Ingredients

7" x 7" white card blank - Anna Marie Designs (not sure whether I have said before but these really are a great weight of card)
Teddy Bear cling stamp - Personal Impressions
Christmas Sentiment cling stamp - LOTV
Kraft Card for matting - Crafters Companion
Music and Word papers - Joyful Peace Pad from GCD Studios
Circle paper - Nordic Christmas Pad from First Edition
Red paper - Classic Christmas Pad from LOTV
Rectangle Stitched Stax die - Lil'Inker Dies
Circle Stitched Stax die - Lil'Inker Dies
Holly Accents die - Spellbinders Dies
Red Pearls from stash
Flexmarkers and Distress Inks

I am quite pleased with how my Christmas Teddy card turned out - thank goodness!   It's also nice and flat for posting - yay!

Thank you for visiting me today, and as usual I am really pleased if you have managed to leave a comment.  This is a scheduled post and I will be checking out the rest of the CCC cards later - I do hope there's a full-house, it really is great finding out what the other girls have made when you have picked the theme.

Lots of hugs to you all, I hope the weather stays as nice as it is today!

CRAFTY CALENDAR JULY CHALLENGE - SUMMERTIME FUN

Oh heck - I am such a divvy - I almost forgot to post my latest DT card for my new Challenge Blog!  I have been making a card for my next door neighbour's dad who was 70 two days before my birthday and I have struggled with this one big time.  Anyway enough of that one for now, I will be posting it later on.

So, onto today's card, this is my DT 'creation' and the theme for this Crafty Calendar month is Summertime Fun, I thought of Wimbledon (oops - now that's interesting Mr Cherokee - perhaps I shouldn't have)!    Well it does include strawberries and lovely cool drinkies!  Some time ago I bought a 'bundle' of digis from a shop called Pollycraft, (I think it was closing down), and this was amongst them.  I didn't want him in tennis whites because I love colouring so this one is really really bright!  The other digis are from colouring pages on t'internet.

As I mentioned earlier, the theme for the Crafty Calendar Challenge is Summertime Fun and we have been sponsored by a company called Squiggle Fly - they are offering a prize of 3 digis to the winner.  I am sure that you are into the feel of summer now so I would love to see your cards in the challenge.

Ingredients

7" X 7" White Card blank - Anna Marie Designs
Lime Card - Basal Blush Pack - Create and Craft
Patterned Paper - Bo Bunny Summer Sunshine Pad
Tennis Digi - Pollycraft (?no longer trading)
Other Digis - Colouring Pages on t'internet
Fishtail Flag Stax die - Die-namics Dies
Happy Birthday Sentiment - Tattered Lace Words
Rounded Rectangle die - Spellbinders
Yellow Mesh - Stash
Flexmarkers and Spectrum Noir markers

I hope you like this one, I was never keen on tennis myself - school had a lot to do with it, especially when we had to make our own tennis skirts in Needlework ....... all those bloomin' pleats!  I can still see it now, as if it were yesterday.

Well, I must stop waffling 'cos I am hoping to go out for lunch later ... I shall say this only wunce .. today is my birthday and although I no longer acknowledge me age I might just celebrate with half a shandy!

Don't forget to enter the Crafty Calendar challenge if you can, you have all of July to enter - Summertime Fun!!!

Thanks to all of you for stopping by my blog and if you have left a comment I really am grateful to you.

Take care and big hugs to all of you - especially big ones if you are not feeling very well!!!

CCC(14) - MAUREEN'S THEME - ANGELS

Well good morning peeps and fellow blogsters of the universe!  Another fortnight has passed by and we have another CCC challenge - the theme chosen by my friend Maureen (Scrappymo) - is 'Angels' ..... beautiful eh?  Here is my card (which I am scheduling .... again .... so fingers crossed).

The dark card is actually a burgundy colour but it looks brown in the pic, and the Maestro couldn't do anything to change it especially in the dreadful light on Friday.
I used an image out of the LOTV Christmas Angels (Set 16) to which I added a smidge of Wink of Stella to make it sparkle.   This is on her wings, the stars and the garland on her head, but it doesn't quite show up here.  It really is a very simple card and the only fiddly bit was the edge where I used a Tonic Header Fold die.   These aren't very long so I made the cut in the centre of the edge and then had to ensure that both the ends matched - I used a pair of Fiskars Corner Edger scissors to round them off.

Ingredients
7" x 7" White Card blank - Anna Marie Designs
Image - LOTV Christmas Angels (Set 16)
Burgundy card - Creative Expressions
Patterned Paper - LOTV Nitwit Collections (Woodland Wishes)
Sparkle Border die - Tattered Lace Dies
Christmas Pine die - Tattered Lace Dies
Christmas Sentiments die - Tattered Lace Dies
Header Fold die - Tonic Ornate Elegance Dies
Pierced Oval Stax - Die-namics Dies
Snowflake die plate - Cheery Lynn Dies
Pearls - Hobby House Crafts
Wink of Stella Pen (Yay!!!)
Stardust Stickles (on the snowflakes of course!)

This is another one that's quite flat, so extremely suitable for posting!  I quite like the Header Fold die but I need to practise with some bits of card before I actually use it on a fold - wish they were a little bit longer though!!!   I do sound like a right GOM don't I - (Grumpy Old Mare) I think it's the weather to be honest, we've had cloud all day today (Saturday) and it was so cold the Maestro (bless his little cotton socks) even put the heating on for an hour or two.  Blossom didn't know whether she wanted to stay in or go out so decided to sit on the mat by the back door, she then looked at Graham as if to say "Come on dad, switch the sunshine on!"   Oh were it sooooo easy!!

Anyway that's enough of me now, although I must say I have been thinking about Flora (Crafty Lark) today, I do hope she didn't get her titfer wet 'cos it looked glorious!  Bet her wellies got a bit of a bashing (although not sure when she was going).

Hope you are all bearing up, I do know that some of my friends are going through the mill at the moment so I am sending virtual hugs their way and that definitely includes those of you who are caring for a poorly family member.  Take care.

Hugs to you all

The paper pack was in pinks but I really wanted to use some blue flowers - yup that's how my mind worked, I picked the flowers first and worked around them ........ and I wanted to use some more of the gorgeous papers from Brenda Pinnick's collection.  They are so delish!!!

CCC(13) - CAROL'S THEME - PENGUINS!

Grrrrrr - I have just been to read my emails and thought it funny, 'cos there would be at least one comment from you, but there was nothing, nada, zilch, zero!!!  I have just been in to check my blog and no Scheduled Post!!!   It seems as if I am lucky with one out of three at the moment!!!!  Sorry to the other CCC girls who wondered where I was - then again better late than not at all!!

Well hello there lovely peeps and fellows blogsters!  Thank you so much for popping over to take a peek at my blog, I really am pleased and chuffed that you have taken the time to visit.  I have scheduled my card for 8.30am, so I am still snoozing (Graham would argue 'snoring' - as if!!!) under the duvet ... lurvely!!!
Anyway, Carol chose the theme of 'Penguins' for our fortnightly CCC challenge and I must admit I was really looking forward to this 'cos they are gorgeous creatures and a favourite of mine.

I didn't have a penguin stamp to hand so I looked on t'internet and found this image and the North Pole sign on the Colouring Pages site.  They do look as if they are enjoying themselves don't they.  The dotty paper has red, light green and dark green dots on it although it doesn't quite show on here.

I asked the Maestro to take the pic for me but the light today is bloomin' awful, so he did his very best as usual,  all I can see is grey cloud ..... wonderful!!

OSAAT DT - CHALLENGE NO 216 - USE A DIGI

Hello there fellow blogsters and friends - today I am posting my DT card for OSAAT Challenge no 216 and the theme is Use a Digi - couldn't be simpler really!  If you enter the challenge using a Stitchy Bear Outlet digi you could win the digis that the DT used in Challenge no 214 - even if you use a digi from elsewhere you could still win a $3 prize.  Soooooooo easy - why don't you have a go it's really nice seeing your cards on the OSAAT blog.

The digi Jenny (my Teamie) chose for us this week is from Hope Jacare at the Sitchy Bear Digi Outlet and it is called 'Vase of Lovely Flowers' somewhat self-explanatory methinks!!  This is the second card I had made using this digi, the first one I just wasn't happy with so I made this one instead.  However, I will re-do (if that is a word!!!) the first one and will post it later on.  It could turn into a 'happy accident' eh!!!

My card has been Wink of Stella'd to within an inch of it's life - I promise you!!!  It's my favourite new pen.

I had some dark pink card which I wanted to use so I used everything to go with this colour!  As you know, I am partial to a little bit of purple  so I chose that as my secondary colour.   Coo, I sound as if I know what I'm doing but I don't really!   BTW those little butterflies were the waste from a Spellbinder die - I keep everything! - they were white but I dabbed a little of the Victorian Velvet DI on them and when they were dry, I added the Clear Wink of Stella.  Sorry that it doesn't show up as much on the pics - the maestro did his absolute best!!

Ingredients
Digi - Vase of Lovely Flowers by Hope Jacare at Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet
7" x 7" White Card Blank - Anna Marie Designs
Pink Card - Basal Card from C & C
Pierced Oval die - Die-Namics Dies
Stitched Scallops Border die - La La Land Dies (used to cut up the sentiment)
Garden Lattice embossing folder - Spellbinders M-Bossabilities
Flexmarkers
Flowers - WOC
Hearts on wire, Ribbon and Flower Charm all from stash
Butterflies are waste from a Spellbinders Circle Butterfly die

I love purple and this pink together - really yummy!  I also managed to use some items that I had had for ages in my stash, ie ribbon, butterflies and the charm.

I mentioned yesterday that I would update you on Blossom's diet - we have always fed our cats the same ie same amount, same time of day etc but somehow Blossom just put on weight after her 'hysterectomy'!!  We have halved her food and made sure she exercises (guffaws) every day but... we have found out that she pushes Donny (who is fed in his little shed) out of the way to lick up whatever he has left and then she takes a nap in 'said shed'!  Basically she is her mother's furry daughter so we are having to make sure Donny leaves nothing in his dish for her to 'snack' on!  We have to do something though, 'cos she is so round she is not 'washing' her bits and pieces - she can't reach them.   I've told her that, as a teenager, she is far to old for her human mother to be doing this for her and it is sooooooooo unsavoury!  Well, back to the drawing board, the next step is to give her even less food - well give it a try anyway.  I'll let you know how she goes - Mrs Duck, do you think she is too laid back to bother about her middle???  Just a thought.

Hugs to you all and thanks so much for stopping by my blog, I've enjoyed the comments I've read on yesterday's card, thank you so much for them all.  Take lots of care and enjoy the weather if it is sunny where you are.
